Re-use, re-duce, re-think! GreenHomeNYC's design challenge sponsored by Inhabitat.com, Film Biz Recycling, and Build It Green! NYC

GreenHomeNYC is searching for industrious, creative and environmentally conscious designers to create sustainable furniture for their public lounge space at this Fall’s Williamsburg block party, The NEW New York. In the end, a group of ten selected finalists will work together and with our judges to created individual yet cohesive works that will be exhibited in our Garden Lounge. Winners will have access to a wealth of free, reclaimed materials donated by Film Biz Recycles and Build it Green, a jury of recognized architects and designers to offer creative support, and public press through our blog which will follow the work of the finalists.

Rosa Munar and Andres g. de los Salmones are collaborating on their project Re-Plant. 

Rosa Munar’s entire career is focused on making our cities more sustainable. She believes that our society demands environmental professionals with different backgrounds the complex environmental problems of today’s cities. She studied architecture in Barcelona and is now earning a masters in Urban Environmental System Management at Pratt Institute in New York.

Andres g. de los Salmones has a degree in architecture that he earned in Barcelona. He won several prizes during his studies including a prize in “emergency architecture x10 for Haiti” in 2010 competition and the “alive objects, social games” prize in 2009. Andres currently lives in Barcelona, Spain; and he has spent time abroad working for different architecture studios. He is involved in several projects exploring the relationship between the social movements and the skin that they inhabit.
